Zanussi is nothing but a specialist in their field, having produced innovative appliances for over a century. The ZEI6840FBA is a prime example of their premium work, having scrupulously designed every aspect of the hob to produce something both phenomenally functional and strikingly stylish.

An Introduction to Induction

This induction hob is a remarkable investment in multiple ways, but most notable is its ability to directly heat the pan as opposed to the whole cooking area. Using magnets as a means of contact, only when the bottom of the pot connects with the burner does it heat up, cutting energy usage considerably - conversely, if the pan is removed, so is the heat source, making your kitchen a vastly safer, more efficient hub. The smooth glass surface not only looks stunning but is incredibly easy to clean, allowing for food to simply be wiped away, and easy-to-reach touch screen controls are delightfully uncomplicated, making operation simple even for those less able. A child safety lock protects small, curious fingers (and your food) from harm and residual heat indicators are not only super-safe but can be used cleverly to further reduce energy consumption.

Plug and Play

Zanussi has ensured that the ZEI6840FBA includes everything conceivable to meet daily needs - however, they've also featured a couple of pleasant surprises to boot. With 3 induction zones and 2 powerful boosters as well as 15 different power levels at the ready, it's a sure thing that this hob can cook a dish variety as broad as your tastes. It's the dedicated Moka-style coffee pot zone, though, that's a real treat; holding fast to their Italian roots, they've incorporated a burner specifically for rapid, real coffee, making anything from your morning cappuccino to a post-dinner espresso a sumptuously satisfying experience. Best of all, the ZEI6840FBA is as easy as pie to install - just plug in and get cooking!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First experience of induction and very impressed I fitted this today. I had realised it would require steel pans and that my wok and one or two other pans wouldn't work. I tested it by boiling water in various pans including the frying pan and my 30-year-old le Creuset casserole. The water boils very quickly and can then be adjusted to simmer rolling or stay hot just by changing the numbers, I have always favoured gas because of its adjustability and ability to deliver very high heat but I reckon this beats gas. I cooked dinner on it tonight, the pan handles don't get hot and there is much less steam in the kitchen. I can't comment on reliability on day one but I am probably already a convert to induction. It is sensitive to pan size and one of my steel pans is 'too small" to register so gets ignored; but the hob does display an 'F' to warn me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The worst purchase ever This hob is the worst thing I have ever bought. I have only had it 2 months and it is already faulty. It is supposed to be 'super fast' but takes 3 and a half minutes to boil a kettle of water compared to 2 minutes in a electric kettle. I would certainly not recommend this product.
