Maytag was founded in Iowa, USA in 1893. It was originally a manufacturer of farming
equipment. In 1907 the company produced its first washing machine and in the following decades expanded
into dishwashers, cookers, fridges, freezers and other household appliances. In 2006 Maytag was bought by
the Whirlpool Corporation - one of the world's largest domestic appliance manufacturers - and the
Maytag brand name is now used on Whirlpool-manufactured appliances. Maytag's brand image is a
combination of time-honoured craftsmanship with modern technology and contemporary styling.
