The Whirlpool Corporation is an American-based home appliance manufacturer. Along with
the Electrolux Group, Whirlpool is one of the largest domestic appliance manufacturers in the world.
It originally started as the Upton Machine Company in 1911 in Michigan, USA, and initially manufactured
washing machines. Its name changed to Whirlpool in 1950, and in the following decades grew into a major
global company. Its range of domestic appliances currently includes dishwashers, hobs, ovens, fridges,
freezers, washing machines and dryers. Brands owned by Whirlpool are currently sold in nearly every
country around the world.
