As our SEO copywriter, you will be reporting to the Marketing Manager. You will use your written communication skills and your search engine optimisation skills to increase the number of visitors to our sites through engaging copy and SEO best practices. You will improve the ranking of site pages in the search engines and encourage customers to buy with engaging and useful site content.
Your duties will involve:
Defining requirements, tasks, and resources associated with SEO strategy.
Providing SEO analysis of our websites and recommendations for improvements.
Writing original content for web pages - tailored for the target demographic.
Advising the IT and Data departments on SEO best practices.
Making SEO changes at HTML code level if necessary or liaising with IT to get this done.
Constantly checking search terms, rankings and analytics to monitor performance of our websites as well as making recommendations for improvement.
Building a network of quality backlinks to our sites.
Developing and implementing content marketing strategies.
Monitoring the algorithms set by the search engines to keep up to date with changes.
You'll need to have the following:
3-5 years of experience in copywriting / SEO roles.
An in-depth knowledge of SEO copywriting and keyword research.
A commitment to keeping your technical skills and knowledge up to date.
A good understanding of Google and how to best optimise pages for it.
An understanding of how customers search, where they search & why they purchase online.
A good understanding of the wider marketing context.
Strong analytical skills for understanding ranking algorithms.
Excellent communication skills and a high standard of written British English.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
Attention to detail and the ability to effectively multi-task in a deadline-driven atmosphere.
High levels of autonomy and self-motivation.
Experience working with popular keyword tools.
Experience with website analysis using a variety of analytics tools including Google Analytics.

At Marks Electrical, we have been selling the best of home appliances and televisions to the public since 1987. We stand today as an independent elite retailer and one of the largest members of the buying group Euronics. We pride ourselves on our achievements and the accolades we've been honoured to accept, including Best Website at the IER Awards. We have recently started selling fitted kitchens in addition to appliances and we have a dedicated website for this.
We've moved our showroom away from the hustle and bustle of the city traffic in Leicester and put it at the heart of our Boston Road headquarters, near Beaumont Shopping Centre. Our 12,000 sq. ft. site is now the centre of operations and holds over 5,000 products, with the latest technologies proudly displayed in-store.
The showroom includes a dedicated Miele centre, which is thought to be the biggest display of the manufacturer's goods in the Midlands. There's also a state-of-the-art television area, with TVs all the way up to 8K displaying dazzling images. We also have some of our fitted kitchens on display to give people a taste of that side of the business.
This job begins as a one-year contract. After which, if performance is satisfactory, it will convert to a permanent position.
