E3 2017: The Highlights

Another year, another E3; the leading gaming event has come and gone. With trailers, gameplays and sneak peaks, this year has been full of highs and lows. Apart from the full reveal of Microsoft's Project Scorpio, the focus has been solely on upcoming games. With 4K gaming being a big push at E3 2017, this is the perfect time to start looking for a UHD television. If you're in the market for an upgrade or simply wanting to peruse the range, our guide on gaming TVs will help you find the ones with optimal picture quality and minimal input lag.

With all these reveals and trailers, we can hardly contain our excitement. Without a doubt, these are our personal highlights from E3 2017:

Xbox One X

After months of anticipation, Microsoft has finally fully unveiled their next innovation in console gaming: the Xbox One X. This is a big step in gaming as it means Xbox gamers can experience native 4K gaming. Although the price tag of 449 might scare some away, the built-in UHD Blu-ray player makes it a good purchase for your money. With a range of upgrades, the console itself packs an impressive punch. Built with an 8-core Custom AMD CPU, the Xbox One X achieves an incredible 2.3GHz. This notable increase will be responsible for smoother gameplay and enhanced AI. There's also more memory and much faster loading times. With all these improvements, we can only imagine what it's like to play Microsoft's exclusive games such as Halo and the newly revealed Forza Motorsports 7.

Although the Xbox One X is compatible with HD televisions, it's a 4K TV that will deliver unbeatable visuals. Fortunately, our range of 4K TVs is bound to create the perfect gaming experience for you. From LG's lifelike OLED to the bright and colourful Samsung QLED, there's an ideal TV for everyone.

What would a powerful console be without great games?

Star Wars Battlefront II

Perhaps the biggest game reveal at E3 this year, Star Wars Battlefront II boasts vast battles in a plethora of locations. EA's second attempt at bringing galactic warfare to our living rooms seems like a force to be reckoned with. With battles spanning across all 3 eras, we will be seeing a much larger roster of playable heroes and villains; Darth Maul, Kylo Ren, Yoda and Rey have already been shown in trailers and gameplay but we're also hoping to see the like of General Grievous and Mace Windu. Additionally, the fact that all post-launch DLC will be free is a great change to see from such a large franchise. The gameplay itself feels very much like Star Wars Battlefront (2015) but with tweaks here and there. Whilst the implemented class system adds a lot more variety to the gameplay, the removal of vehicle tokens immerses you more in the battles.

Call of Duty WW2

Starting in the early 2000s, Call of Duty is a franchise hard to escape; with each annual release, this blockbuster becomes more and more over the top. Despite what the fans asked for, the last few additions to this series have been cartoonish, futuristic warfare. However, we're finally going back to when the games were at their best with Call of Duty WW2. The short trailer brings us back to trench warfare with up-close and personal combat while showing off impressive visuals and a range of weapons. Although it looks they're copying their rival Battlefield, this has the potential to be a great shooter.

PlayStation Exclusives

As their 4K PS4 Pro and PSVR are already in the marketplace, Sony has been teasing us with some of their future exclusive games. Here are the ones we're most excited to play:

With surprisingly few big-budget superhero games in the market, Sony and Insomniac Games will be changing that by bringing our favourite web-slinger to our homes in 2018. E3 finally gave us some much-anticipated gameplay - in fact, a whole 9 minutes; featuring an over-the-top helicopter chase, fluid combat and stunning graphics, it looks like Spider-Man may pave the way for more Marvel superhero AAA games.

God of War

Offering brutal 3rd person hacking and slashing, the acclaimed God of War series is back. This time, the game moves away from Greek mythology to Norse; battling the likes of skeletons, trolls and giant sea serpents, we'll be seeing a mix of action-packed combat combined with a touching story that focusses on character development between Kratos (the main protagonist) and his son.

So, give these games the glory they deserve with our selection of 4K TVs. Whether it's LG, Samsung or Sony, you can find the best 4K TVs at Marks Electrical. Alt Tag
